A Little About Annangrove

Annangrove still carries a wonderfully rural piece of Hills District history.

The first European land grants in the area date to 1823. With its sandstone ridges, wooded country and deep gullies, timber cutting became Annangrove’s first local industry before the cleared land proved well suited to citrus growing.

The name came later.

Annangrove House belonged to Edward Charles Johnston and was named after the Scottish town of Annan, where his grandfather George Johnston was born. By the late nineteenth century the local post office and school had adopted the name, and by 1915 Annangrove had become the customary name for the suburb.

Today, while much of the Hills continues to grow around it, Annangrove has held onto a distinctly greener, more spacious character.

And that feels particularly familiar to us.

Our own studio is just nearby in Kenthurst, another part of the Hills where acreage, trees and winding roads are still part of everyday life.

So when flowers are heading to Annangrove for a birthday, a celebration, a difficult day or simply because somebody deserves them, they’re being made very close to home.
